Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Launching a New Feature: Show Us Your “Research in Action”!

September 13th, 2012 / in CCC, Research News / by Kenneth Hines

The CCC is announcing a new feature today called "Computing Research in Action."Every week for the last several years, the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) has showcased an interesting computing (or related) research project as a “Highlight of the Week.” Today, in an effort to build upon the success of the Highlight feature, we are announcing an expanded version of this series called “Computing Research in Action.”

Through Computing Research in Action, the CCC will develop two- to five-minute video segments on selected research, covering the on-site production and editing costs of these clips. Computer and information scientists and engineers (faculty and students alike, we hope!) featured in these spots will have an opportunity to demonstrate their research projects and describe what lead to the interesting new results. It is our aim that these segments — to be showcased on CCC’s website, blog, and YouTube channel, and developed in partnership will local photographers and producers — will help communicate the myriad advances our field is enabling to the broader public. Please submit your own research for consideration!

And here’s an added incentive: the CCC will provide a $1,500 travel award to be used by a member of the research team to cover travel to a conference of his/her choosing, within six months of filming, to present the featured work.

To learn more, and to complete a very short web form to submit your research project for consideration, check out the Computing Research in Action website today! And please pass this announcement on to your colleagues and students to help us spread the word.
