Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


Congratulations to the 2020 IEEE Newly Elevated Fellows!

IEEE: Advancing Technology for HumanityThe Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has released its 2020 list of newly elevated fellows. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is given to a IEEE member with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest by the Board of Directors.

This year’s list features a number of impressive computer scientists, including Computing Community Consortium (CCC) Council member Ian Foster (Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago), “for contributions to grid computing and data transport infrastructures.” Ian has been on the CCC Council since 2018 and is a member of the Systems and Architecture Task Force.

Congratulations to all the recipients for their accomplishments, including CRA Board Members Mary Hall (University of Utah) and Vivek Sarkar (Georgia Tech)!
