Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


Blue Sky Ideas Conference Track at AAAI-19

Blue Sky ideas logoThe Computing Community Consortium (CCC) recently sponsored a Blue Sky Ideas Conference Track at the 33rd Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-19), January 27- February 1, 2019, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of this conference was to promote research in artificial intelligence (AI) and scientific exchange among AI researchers, practitioners, scientists, and engineers in affiliated disciplines.

The goal of this track was to present ideas and visions that can stimulate the research community to pursue new directions, such as new problems, new application domains, or new methodologies.

First place: Pat Langley (Institute for the Study of Learning and Expertise)
Explainable, Normative, and Justified Agency

Second Place: Francesca Rossi (IBM Research & University of Padova) and Nicholas Mattei (IBM Research)
Building Ethically Bounded AI 

Third place: Barry Smyth (University College Dublin)

CCC provides travel awards to authors of the winning papers. We encourage you to apply for a Blue Sky Ideas track at your conference!

Requests need only include a brief description of the conference and a proposed list of program committee members for the track.
