Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

10 Women in Networking/Communications that you Should Know

December 15th, 2015 / in Announcements, Research News / by Helen Wright

Networking^2 Women LogoNetworking Networking Women (N2 Women), a discipline-specific community for researchers in the communications and networking research fields, has just released their inaugural list of “10 women in networking/communications that you should know”. The main goal of N2 Women is to foster connections among the under-represented women in computer networking and related research fields. N2 Women allows women to connect with other women who share the same research interests, who attend the same conferences, who face the same career hurdles, and who experience the same obstacles.

From their press release:

Over 150 people around the world submitted nominations for this list, and many of these people submitted several names. These nominations created a very impressive list of approximately 140 women in the networking/communications fields. The women nominated amaze us and inspire us. It was quite hard to only choose 10.

The “10 women in networking/communications that you should know” list will be an annual list. For this 1st list, the group decided to focus on the most senior women in the field, all of whom have had a major impact in networking and/or communications.

Congratulations to all the women, especially to Computing Community Consortium (CCC) council members Jennifer Rexford and Klara Nahrstedt!
