Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


Computer Science Tops the List of Degrees with Highest Return

PrintOn March 26, Derek Thompson of The Atlantic published an article titled Which College – and Which Major – Will Make You Richest?  The article provides the full methodology and explanations of the study done by PayScale.  What we found most interesting is the information on degrees.  Nine of the top 10 degrees with the highest return on investment are computer science programs.

…no degree in America is more valuable than a computer-science major at Stanford, Columbia, or Berkeley. Notably, the most valuable non-computer-science major in the country is also at Stanford: economics.
