Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Digital Societies and Social Technologies Summer Institute Helps to Bridge Common Interests Among Different Research Communities

The following entry is a special contribution to this blog from John L. King, the W.W. Bishop Professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan.  John was a council member of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) from 2007 – 2010 and on the Board of the Computing Research Association (CRA) from 2003 – 2005.   The Digital Societies and Social Technologies (DSST) 2013 Summer Institute took place at the University of Maryland College Park, College of Information Studies from July 28-August 1.  It built on traditions established by the CSST (Consortium for the Science of Sociotechnical Systems) summer institutes and the Summer Social Webshops.  The focus was on bridging the “social” and […]
